<hi style=afpcap>The smoke fomenting beneath the nose of this A-10 is called "corruption" and is given off by the 30-mm GAU-8/A cannon pumping out a burst of shells. From straight ahead we can see why the A-10 is compared with the North American B-25 Mitchell of World War II. The A-10's formidable wing, seen here from almost straight ahead, is only 10 feet less wide than the B-25's; in most other respects the two aircraft are about the same shape and size. Both have impressive twin tails.</hi>
